How to Help Ukraine Right Now

  1. Donate

War is never a good thing, and its effects are already being felt in Ukraine. The conflict has led to property destruction, displacement of families, and multiple casualties.

Many displaced Ukrainians are in urgent need of shelter and emergency supplies of food and medicine. The Ukrainian military also needs support amid the crisis. So, if you want to know what you can do to help Ukraine right now, one of the best things to do is donate to charity.

These organizations are accepting donations to aid the people of Ukraine; UNICEFCome Back Alive, the Ukrainian Red CrossRazom for UkraineGlobal GivingVoices of ChildrenSave the ChildrenKyiv IndependentUNHCR, and Nova Ukraine, among others.

Help Ukraine and its people get through this difficult time by donating to these charities.

  1. Pray for Ukraine

Perhaps you live too far away from Ukraine or are broke and unable to donate at the moment, and thus you think that there is nothing much you can do to help.

But that is not true.

While you probably don’t have the position or power to influence your country’s government decisions or do other more impactful things, there is one little way you can help Ukraine right now; pray.

If you are a religious person, you could pray for peace, protection, and deliverance for Ukraine and its people. The good thing is that it doesn’t matter where you are located or whatever religious group you belong to; all prayers are welcome. So, please pray for Ukraine. It won’t cost you anything.

  1. Educate yourself and Raise awareness

Before sharing your opinion on something, it would be good to educate yourself about it first. And the war between Russia and Ukraine is not an exception. Hence, before rushing to social media to discuss the crisis, or perhaps, if you want to understand this conflict better in order to educate others, educate yourself first.

This way, you will help Ukraine by avoiding confusion and misunderstandings that occur when false information spreads.

There are numerous sources of information about the current events and history of the relationship between Russia and Ukraine that you can easily access for free on the internet, on authoritative websites, and YouTube.

Make use of these free resources and educate yourself. Afterward, raise awareness by sharing accurate, fact-based information with friends, family, and on social media.

Also, you could keep an eye out for content from experts who analyze and discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict objectively.

  1. Report social media accounts spreading disinformation and misinformation

Social media is a large part of our lives today. And while its use does have some benefits, social media platforms can be very toxic, especially when it comes to people sharing their opinions and conspiracy theories on things such as what is happening in Ukraine and Russia right now.

Some people may take, and have taken, advantage of this situation to spread disinformation, fake videos, and misleading theories that only serve to fuel the conflict and confuse people.

Whatever the motives of the people sharing this content are, spreading disinformation and misinformation is not right and can be very destructive.

So, what can you do to help Ukraine right now if you come across such content? You should report any social media accounts that are spreading false news and propaganda or those inciting hatred.

Luckily, most social media platforms usually suspend or terminate accounts if enough people report them.

  1. Boycott Russian goods and services

Following the invasion of Ukraine, many countries have imposed sanctions against Russia, and campaigns to boycott Russian products and services have gained momentum.

But, how will boycotting Russian goods help Ukraine? You wonder.

Well, buying imported products generates export revenue for Russia, and stopping their distribution will halt the flow of funds into the country during the period of its invasion of Ukraine. Thus, if Russian brands are boycotted worldwide, it could affect the country’s economy negatively and cripple its ability to finance the war, thereby bringing it to an end, hopefully.

Additionally, boycotting Russian goods and services will be great as an act of solidarity with Ukraine.

Stand with Ukraine!

War, just like other types of violence, should only ever be a last resort. Instead, we should always choose peace and seek alternative conflict resolution strategies whenever possible.

What is happening in Ukraine right now is sad and horrifying, and it would be comforting for the country and its people to know they aren’t alone in this crisis and that the rest of the world cares and are ready to help.

If you were wondering how you can help Ukraine right now, try doing the above things to show your support and raise awareness. Do whatever little thing you can to help the people of Ukraine affected by the Russian invasion.

PRAY FOR UKRAINE. PRAY FOR PEACE.
