How other people see you can be influenced by how you view yourself. Hence, if you are always self-critical, other people may lose respect and confidence in you, feel free to criticize you as well, or give you compliments in an attempt to make you feel better about yourself. 

On the other hand, if you show others that you love yourself, they will love you too or at least respect you. It also shows them how to love you and that you know you are worthy of love. Learning how to love your body is important because you would be doing yourself a great injustice by bashing yourself.
